You know what my least favorite scifi trope is? Stories set in the future where the main character just happens to be really into “oldies” or “classics” from the present day.

Yeah, occasionally it’s done well, but usually not. I do love that in Babylon 5, Garabaldi loves Daffy Duck. But that’s ironic, (as well as pretty much the only instance of that sort of retro self-indulgence) since they show him watching Duck Dodgers! In the Twenty Fourth! and a Half! Century!!! And guess what century Babylon 5 takes place in?
